Year 4

Investigating patterns

We kicked off the term with some problems solving looking for patterns and sequences. We worked together to deduce what numbers should be by identifying and applying rules.

Drama: Theseus and the Minotaur

We have been learning the events of the Myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. We have been freeze framing the different scene to get an idea of the character's feelings at that moment to help us describe it.

During a recent problem solving lesson, Year 4 were asked to collect data from their fellow pupils in order find out the most common month for birthdays in our class.

We gathered the raw data into a tally chart and collated the information using a bar chart. We found lots of interesting patterns of birthdays from our results and were surprised to find so many months with no birthdays at all

Year 4 were recently presented with a scientific challenge from Ernie the Electrician. Ernie had noticed that buying electrical wire for his work is becoming more and more expensive and asked us to investigate which other materials would also make good electrical conductors! The photographs show scientists at work in our Year 4 lab carrying out our investigation.
