Yesterday, Year 6 had the fabulous opportunity to meet Tom Gilbart. Tom is a Barrister who works in Manchester. The children had a great time and learned a lot about the law and the justice system. Thank you to Tom who is also our Class Governor.
We have been learning about Crime and Punishment throughout History. We visited the Manchester Police Museum to find out how Policing has developed and changed over time. As part of the trip we got to see one of Manchester’s original police stations and find out how it worked. We didn’t really like being in the cells! We also got to visit the model court house to see what happens after people have been arrested and found guilty.
In December we took a day visit to London. We visited Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street. It was a really long journey but well worth every second on the coach!
We have been learning about the importance of miracle stories of Jesus from the Bible. We enjoyed some role play and freeze framing to get a better understanding of the events. Some of us were very convincing in our parts!
Year 6 had a wonderful time visiting the Fusilier Museum in Bury to learn more about part of their History topic focusing on World War 1.
Year 6 have had a fabulous time learning all about Parliament as part of their learning focusing on British values. They visited Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament where they were able to view debates in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. A fabulous day was had by all and the children received some lovely comments about their behaviour.
Year 6 had the opportunity to participate in a great drama workshop with some Law students from the University of Manchester. They all enjoyed getting into role to discover whether Goldilocks was guilty or not guilty!
Year 6 and Year 5 had the opportunity to step back in time and live life as a real soldier from World War 1. They didn't enjoy drill very much!
